About Us
Lakeside Care at Home is a locally based medical practice providing thoughtful, comprehensive care to patients where they live. We serve residents of the Texas Hill Country in private homes, assisted living communities, and skilled nursing facilities.
Our goal is to make high-quality medical care more accessible for patients who have difficulty traveling to a traditional doctor’s office—and to give patients, families, and caregivers a trusted partner in navigating complex health needs.
Our Mission
To provide excellent, compassionate medical care at home, helping residents of the Texas Hill Country maintain their independence, dignity, and quality of life.
Our Vision

Medical Director / Founder
Dr. Landon Roussel, MD, ABIM, is the founder and Medical Director of Lakeside Medical Group. A board-certified internist, Dr. Roussel brings over a decade of experience caring for homebound patients, with a particular focus on serving rural communities with both clinical excellence and innovation. He has completed thousands of house calls and has a particular passion from bringing quality healthcare to the home.
Dr. Roussel earned a dual degree in Spanish and Biochemistry from Rice University, followed by his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. He also holds a Master’s in Bioethics, completed through a collaborative European program involving the University of KU Leuven (Belgium), Radboud University (Netherlands), and the University of Padua (Italy). He completed his residency in Internal Medicine with an emphasis in primary care through Harvard Medical School at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts. As a dedicated polyglot, Dr. Roussel particularly enjoyed not only the rigorous training, but also the opportunity to provide personalized care to his patients and their families in their native Spanish, French, and Italian. Since settling in the Hill Country, he looks forward to further honing his German language skills to connect to the local culture and history.
In 2016, Dr. Roussel founded Communitas Primary Care, an innovative direct primary care practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the surrounding River Parishes region. Under his leadership, the practice grew into one of the largest providers of home-based medical care in the area. During this time, he personally conducted hundreds of home visits as both a primary care physician and hospice medical director, while also training nurse practitioners and leading care teams that included registered nurses providing chronic care management.
In 2022, Dr. Roussel moved to Ketchikan, Alaska, where he served as a full-time hospitalist with PeaceHealth at Ketchikan Medical Center. There, he became Medical Director of the island’s first and only hospice, guiding the program from pre-licensure through operational maturity. He was also elected Chief of Staff, serving from 2023 to 2025—an honor reflecting the trust and respect of his colleagues.
In 2025, longing for home, Dr. Roussel settled in Canyon Lake to deepen his Texan roots by serving the greater rural Hill Country community. He continues to practice as a hospitalist within the CHRISTUS Health system, as well as at Resolute Baptist Hospital in New Braunfels.
Dr. Roussel’s approach to hospice care combines a deep commitment to clinical excellence with a belief that the best care—and the best organizations—are built on relationships, trust, and service to the local community.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Roussel is an avid open-water swimmer who also enjoys boating on Canyon Lake and rooting for the San Antonio Football Club. Most importantly, he values time spent with beloved his wife, their two children, and their household of pets.
